Artist Statement:
Opportunities to remove ectoparasites bring oceanic mantas to seamounts like Magic Mountain. As this manta came before my camera, it’s size (20’) and graceful movement left me in awe. I emphasized the contrast of its patterning in my photo and celebrated its remarkable adaptions for feeding in my verse.
